Theme and basic information

The theme of this slot is based on tribal customs and rituals related to the specificity of life in remote areas of jungles in South America. Describing the reels, at first, I will say that I love the approach of the Relax gaming provider to creating playboards that look very unusual and certainly catch the players’ attention.

So, in Mega Masks, this boar looks like a plaque in the hands of an unknown creature (god or just a human being), all the composition is made out of stone and resembles a scene from the fairytale. Besides, all these details seem very organically, as though they are in the right place. And I will return to the board structure and tell you in more detail about it further in the review.

By default, it is a 5-reels and 5 rows slot with 41 paylines. But don’t be confused, the game is not that simple as it can seem. The reels have the ability to emerge between themselves, after which the board can consist of, for instance, 1 reel and 1 row.

There is nothing said in the rules regarding the winning combination mechanics (from which side the win combination will pay), though during the gameplay I found that the pay lines pay from the left to right side as in average slots game.

As you could have understood, the slot has unusual settings that I’m going to elaborate on below. So, let’s move on.

Betting mechanics

Speaking about betting mechanics, the only setting that you are able to set up is the bet size. And bet size depends on the chosen “bet level” regime. And because the game offers 3 bet levels, there will be an opportunity to set 3 different minimum and maximum bet sizes respectively. So, here is how it works:

Slot symbols

Excluding the Mega symbols that reiterate the basic symbols but in the bigger format, there are only 8 symbols in this slot, 6 base game symbols and 2 special ones which are Scatter and Bonus symbols. The Wild symbol actually looks like a bright yellow sign “Wild” in the purple background. It is not only the highest paying symbol but also a substitute for all other symbols in a winning combination. And even though this info isn’t given in the rules, I would add that Wild doesn’t substitute Scatter symbol (it is the only exception).

The Scatter symbol (or Bonus symbol as it is called in this slot) looks like a sign “Bonus” in the golden frame that has the golden spiral in the background. Note that it can land exclusively on reels 1, 3 and 5.

Slot Bonus Features

As for Free spins, you can get 10 free spins if three Bonus symbols (Scatters) land on the reels 1, 3 and 5. An additional 2 spins will be added when two adjacent reels will be merged during a free spins game (about this feature I’ll tell further).

The bonus game is not offered in the Mega Masks slot but you will be able to use some cool features instead.

Special features

When it comes to the special features, I would say that the slot offers quite interesting new ideas that can certainly draw your attention. Among them are the Mega Symbol feature that is getting activated randomly and if it is activated, two or more reels will merge together to form a minimum of one Mega symbol.

The other peculiarity of the slot is the appearance of fireflies during the free spins round that should clear artefacts on the vines which set from the beginning of the “bonus” game and pinned to the separators that divide each reel from the other one. If five artefacts have been cleared, the two reels that lay on the neighbour reels will merge.

One more special feature is named “Mega bet” feature. You can find it on the left side of the board. It looks like a stone that is divided into 3 separate parts, each of which represents the frequency of appearing Mega Symbols and has the other specificities.

For instance, Mega Bet feature that is located on the left side of the stone and has a picture of the spiral on it, as it said in the rules, is an additional wager that can be adjusted by controlling the panel beside the reels.

The “Mega bet level 1” increases the frequency of the appearing Mega Symbol feature. And an advantage of Mega bet level 1, if Mega free spins are activated when this regimen is on, the Mega Symbol free spins will be improved by removing 5 artefacts, that hold the pole that separates the reels, before the free spins start.

As for “Mega bet level 2” it will increase the frequency of the Mega symbol feature further. And if the Mega symbol free spins will be activated when “Mega bet level 2” was on, the Mega symbol free spins will be improved by removing 9 artefacts before the free spins start.

Despite the fact, there is not a Multiplier or progressive jackpot included in this slot, it has so many additional features, you can be satisfied by the gameplay process without blowing mind possible winnings.

RTP and volatility

Mega Mask has Return To Player (RTP) of 96,21% by default and, as you could predict, this coefficient can be changed (get higher) depending on the Mega bet level that you will choose. So, it can be set to 96.41% (if you chose Mega bet level 1) and it can be even 96.61 (if you chose Mega bet level 2).

The volatility level can be changed as well, so it will vary from low to high level. And, in my opinion, it’s very convenient to set such parameters according to your preferences.

It is a new slot with modern and cool looking graphics and top-notch sound. It doesn’t have an intro, though all the details of its design are well-made.

The pros of Mega Masks slot include:

• low volatility if you choose the basic bet level

The cons of Mega Masks slot include:

• there is no multiplier

• the slot doesn't offer a progressive jackpot

• quite an ordinary theme

As a result, this Mega Masks slot offers fascinating design and engaging features, but an ordinary theme and not so big possible wins.

As for me, I liked the feature that gives an opportunity to change a bet level which means that you can set different levels of RTP, volatility and Hit frequency, which is new and really convenient.

Though, simultaneously, I was a little disappointed that the slot’s creators didn’t include multiplier and, as a result, possible wins are not as big as they could be. So, in my opinion, you should weigh all pros and cons to make a choice if it is appropriate, namely for you or not.
